1.  New Flag Pole

The next time you are at VFW Post 2931, take note of the new flag pole.  This project was spearheaded by VVA members Joe Valentine and Ed Meeds.  Since Post 2931 is our home base, we decided at our last meeting (June 2010) to look into a flag pole for the Post.  Joe volunteered to head the project.  Joe went out a got a price and contacted VFW Commander Dan Tidwell, who liked what he saw.  They got together with 1st State Flag Company.  Ed Meeds dug the hole and poured concrete and set the new flag pole.  This saved a considerable amount of money.  Old Glory never looked better Thanks Joe and Ed.

2.  Vietnam Book

Spoke to veteran by the name of Ross Lewis.  He is putting together a book of essays, photos and interviews of Vietnam Veterans. This book is to serve as a thank you for your service during the Vietnam War.  We have had  some members of VVA 546 interviewed which may end up in the book.

3.  Poker at the Beach

This continues to be a great success for Chapter 546.  Neil Burke is the Chairman of this project and continues to do a great job.  Please consider giving him some help when he calls.  It is just four hours and being present when games are in progress one every couple of months.

4.  Hope everyone is enjoying the fall.  Looking forward to seeing everyone at our November Meeting on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at VFW Post 2931, 8:30 am.  Be safe and don't get to much sun!!!

5.  Any and all veterans who served in the armed forces during the Vietnam War era are eligible to join Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 546, Sussex County, Delaware.  We encourage you to stop by VFW 2931, on VFW Road in Ellendale, on the fourth Saturday of any month and join us at our meetings.  We meet at 8:30 am and stay after and socialize and have some breakfast at the Post.  Note:  we do not meet during the months of July and August.  If you have any questions contact Joe Valentine at 302-947-4800 or Joe Forester at 302-934-8736.
